STAMP: Sustainability Alumni-Student Mentorship Program
Connecting NC State students and alumni to shape the next generation of sustainability leaders.
About the Program
The Sustainability Alumni-Student Mentorship Program (a.k.a. STAMP) brings together current students and alumni who share a commitment to sustainability for personalized, one-on-one guidance. The goal of the program is to help students gain career insight and professional connections while enabling alumni to share expertise, expand their networks, and stay engaged with emerging ideas and the university community. A thoughtful matching process–based on educational backgrounds, career experiences, goals, and interest areas–ensures a rewarding experience for both mentors and mentees.
Program Commitment
All alumni mentors and student mentees commit to 6 meetings 1 hour/month within the academic year. This time should be used for one-on-one meetings either in person or virtual.

Students
Whether exploring career options or seeking guidance, the program helps you STAMP your future in sustainability with purpose and direction.
About
As a student mentee, the mentorship is truly what you make of it. With the support of program staff and toolkits, you set the goals, plan the meetings, and decide how to use your mentor’s expertise to match your own hopes, interests, and capacity. Whether you want industry advice, networking opportunities, or help clarifying your career path, your initiative shapes the experience and determines the impact.
Benefits
> Building Skills and Connections
By participating in this program, you can gain career guidance, networking opportunities, and real-world insights that bridge the gap between college and the professional world. Students develop key skills, build confidence, receive résumé and interview support, and form meaningful relationships that continue to support their growth long after graduation.
> Access to a Mentorship Toolkit
Mentees also have access to an extensive Mentorship Toolkit with pre-planned objectives and practical resources to help guide the purpose and structure of their experience—while maintaining the flexibility to shape the journey around their own goals and interests.

“It was eye-opening to explore the creation of sustainable solutions from leaders employing cross-sector collaboration, interdisciplinary policymaking, and private investment to make an impact.”
