NC State Ranks Top 20 in Best Colleges for Entrepreneurs
NC State has been ranked by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine as a “Top Undergraduate Schools for Entrepreneurship Studies for 2019,” coming in at No. 11 on the list and ranking as the top school in the state of North Carolina.
The ranking was based on a Princeton Review survey of over 300 universities. More than 40 data points were analyzed, with topics including the percentage of faculty, students, alumni actively and successfully involved in entrepreneurial endeavors, the number and reach of mentorship programs, scholarships and grants for entrepreneurial studies, and the level of support for school-sponsored business plan competitions.
Women Lead the Way in the Social and Environmental Impact Category of NC State’s 2018 Lulu eGames
Thirty three teams of students participated in the first round of the 2018 Lulu eGames Social and Environmental Impact Category. Of the team top 3 teams, 91% of the team founders were women.
NC State hosts second annual B the Change networking event
NC State hosted the 2nd Annual B the Change event which is a B Corp networking event in Talley Student Union. The event started last year at Elon University as a way for students to engage with local benefit corporations in North Carolina. The event had around 115 participants from around North Carolina, including participants from Elon University.
Speed Networking for Social Entrepreneurs
During the annual Global Entrepreneurship Week at NC State, BSC hosts a Speed Networking for Social Entrepreneurs in partnership with the Entrepreneurship Initiative and Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation to connect students with local changemakers.
The Lulu eGames
In 2016, the Lulu eGames added a new Social and Environmental Impact category in a collaboration with the NC State Poole College Business Sustainability Collaborative. The Lulu eGames is NC State’s annual startup competition, with over $100k in prizes available for NC State entrepreneurs. Students can compete in 6 categories – New Venture, Design and Prototype, Social and Environmental Impact, Built on Cloud, Arts Venture and the Daugherty Endowment which is by invitation only.
The Social and Environmental Impact category allows NC State graduate and undergraduate students, working in teams or individually, the opportunity to create a new venture focused on using the power of business to solve social and environmental challenges.
