Pursuing sustainability, whether you are an individual, a non-provite, a public institution or a private company can be both expensive and time consuming in a world that was not set up to reward doing the right thing.

The Smith Seal of North Carolina Sustainable Business Award was developed by the Greater Raleigh Chamber t0 recognize members who are committed to environmentally and socially responsible operations and practices:

The purpose of this award is to recognize businesses, nonprofits, colleges/universities, and municipalities that have embraced the spirit of sustainability by incorporating environmentally and socially conscious practices into the everyday operations of the organization. Nominees must be able to demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and their dedication to improving the lives of their employees or community and how this has become part of the culture or operations of the firm. Whenever possible, please include metrics that demonstrate growth, improvement, or other measurements of success.
