Ramsay Huntley is the Senior Advisor for Sustainable Finance in Wells Fargo’s Commercial Bank. In this newly created position, Ramsay advises Commercial Banking clients on a wide variety of sustainability-related issues with a particular focus on financing solutions for climate and energy transition activities. Previously, he was the Climate Strategy and Innovation Lead for the bank. As a member of the Corporate Strategy leadership team, Ramsay’s work included partnering with climate experts across the bank to ensure strategic coherence of net zero transition-related strategic priorities from a company as well as customer need perspective; embedding climate more deeply into the company’s business strategies; and providing structure to vet new ideas from a climate impact risk/reward lens. Before joining Corporate Strategy in 2022, he was the sustainable finance strategist for Wells Fargo and a founding member of the Wells Fargo Institute for Sustainable Finance. In this role, he worked with business partners across the bank to support Wells Fargo’s net zero ambition, including its $500 billion sustainable finance commitment, while positioning the bank to lead the transition to a low carbon economy.
Before joining Wells Fargo, Ramsay led a new product offering and managed client relationships with some of the nation’s largest electric utilities for Simple Energy (now Uplight), a Techstars alumni company. Ramsay previously served as a senior sustainability manager at DIRECTV, launching the sustainability program there and leading DIRECTV’s efforts to procure renewable energy, produce energy efficient products, and report on its sustainability progress. Prior to DIRECTV, Ramsay held a number of roles in the consulting, non-profit, and academic sectors.
Ramsay is also an active community member. He is a First Mover Fellow in the Aspen Institute’s Business & Society Program. Ramsay also serves on the board of directors of Waterstart, a global water technology accelerator; as a member of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade’s Advanced Industries clean tech grant review committee; and as a member of the Managing for Sustainability Advisory Council at the University of Colorado Denver.
Ramsay holds a master’s degree in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University; a B.S. in Business Management from North Carolina State University; and is a current graduate student in Columbia University’s Sustainable Finance certification program. He is based in Denver where he and his wife are parents to two school age boys and he can often be found trail running or skiing in Colorado’s beautiful high country. His personal favorite climate tech solutions are his heat pump and electric cargo bike.
