North Carolina was ranked #4 among Top Sustainable States by Site Selection, a publication of the Industrial Asset Management Council, that is read by real estate and economic development professionals. NC ranked just below well-known “green” industry leaders of California, Oregon, and Vermont, and ahead of Washington, New York, and Illinois.
The rankings take into account a wide range of criteria that include both facility-level factors (for instance, LEED-certified buildings, energy efficiency programs) and green industry development efforts (industry projects in biofuels, electric vehicles, and other cleantech industries).
