Poole Accounting Students Win Government Finance Case Challenge
A team of undergraduate accounting students from NC State’s Poole College of Management won first place in the annual Association of Government Accountants (AGA) Government Finance Case Challenge.
Student teams analyze data for a specified U.S. state, city or county government and develop a Citizen-Centric Report (CCR). Submissions are judged by a panel of government finance experts, and the top teams present their findings via video. The experience challenges students’ moral reasoning, raises their awareness of the importance of accountability and opens doors to a career in government. The winning team members each received a $1,000 scholarship!
The Poole College student team, composed of Adam Turner, Haruka Adachi, and Ben Hawley was advised by Accounting faculty Scott Showalter. The North Carolina State University team produced the winning CCR and video presentation for the City of Fairfax, Virginia.
