NC TRAVEL INITIATIVE EXPANDS ITS REACH

Whether it’s a trip to the coast, a search for epic fall foliage, or even a whitewater adventure at the US National White Water Center, travelers already have many options open to them for hotels and B&Bs that are making an effort to mitigate their impact on the environment.

Since 2012, NC GreenTravel has been helping NC travel businesses to green their operations, offering no-cost advice to business owners to help them cut energy use, reduce waste, conserve water and save money. The initiative has now joined forces with TripAdvisor and the GreenLeaders program to reach a broader, national audience. Here’s how the program was pitched to NC Green Travel members:

As a member of North Carolina Green Travel you can get even more recognition for your commitment by joining the TripAdvisor GreenLeaders Program, and promoting your achievement to the more than 200 million TripAdvisor users. Thousands of travelers search for green hotels and B&Bs on TripAdvisor each week – join the TripAdvisor GreenLeaders program to let them know you are an eco-conscious property! If you qualify, you’ll be highlighted as a GreenLeader when travelers search in North Carolina, and we’ll put an exclusive GreenLeader icon on your property page. Plus, you’ll get a free framed certificate and a logo for your website.

The NC GreenTravel Initiative is a free program that helps recognize and promote environmental leaders in tourism across the state. It’s been running since 2012 and works with over 35 hotels and B&B’s.
